Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

by Fr. Jess Ty  |  11/23/2025  |  Weekly Reflection

Dear Family of God,

This weekend we will begin a new Liturgical Year; we are tasked to prepare for the Second Coming of Jesus as we remember his First Coming on Christmas.

How do we prepare for His coming? We can learn from our first reading: “Come let us climb the Lord’s mountain, to the house of the God of Jacob, that He may instruct us in His ways, and we may walk in His paths… and walk in the light of the Lord.”

From our second reading, Saint Paul instructs us: “to throw off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light; to live in the daylight and not in orgies and drunkenness, not in promiscuity and lust and not in rivalry and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ and put off the desires of the flesh.”

In our Gospel, Jesus is warning us saying: “you also must be prepared, stay awake, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.” Jesus compares His coming in the days of Noah when the flood destroyed the earth because of the sinfulness of humanity. Those who listened to the Lord’s servant were saved, those who ignored the Lord’s warning perished.

For those who ignored the Lord and His commandments, His coming is a fearful one, but for those who love God and follows His commandments, His coming is a joyful one.

May we all heed the invitation of the Lord like Our Lady of Joy during the Annunciation.

Yours in Christ through Mary Immaculate.
