Fear No One: Living Our Faith Daily

by Fr. Jess Ty  |  06/21/2026  |  Weekly Reflection

Dear Family of God,

“Fear no one,” is the message of Jesus in our Gospel this weekend. Truth will come out in the end. Those who were maligned and falsely accused of proclaiming the truth will be vindicated in the end.

Everyone wants to be seen as courageous. No one wants to be called a coward. We admire heroes and martyrs.

Since time immemorial, courage has been the most cherished and publicly celebrated virtue. That’s the very reason why we love heroes. What does it mean to be a courageous Catholic today? The call and challenge to courage is every day and wherever we find ourselves. Whether we are having meals with family and friends, we need courage to pray before and after a meal, while on vacation, and interact with others at the workplace, courage is necessary to live our faith.

The root word of courage is cor which is the Latin word for heart. Courage without love is simply not courage. For St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, all moral virtues flow from love. If love is absent, then it’s not a virtue.

May we all practice the virtue of Courage or fortitude always with the virtue of Charity.

Yours in Christ through Mary Immaculate.
