All Saints Day

by Fr. Jess Ty  |  11/01/2026  |  Weekly Reflection

Dear Family of God,

This week we will be celebrating the “National Vocation Awareness Week” in our country, that is, November 1-7, 2026. Please ask Our Lord for more dedicated, holy priests, deacons, and consecrated men and women. May they be inspired by Jesus Christ, supported by our faith community, and respond generously to God's gift of vocation.

As priests, especially Pastor, and all of us baptized Catholics are Vocation Promoters. We all can help to invite young men to answer God’s call to Priesthood and young men and women to Religious Life. As parents, you also can pray and help to encourage one or two of your children to answer the call to Consecrated Life. They are demanding life but at the same time, meaningful and fulfilling life and full of adventures.

For me, answering the call to the priesthood is a life full of adventure, challenges, joyful journey and faith-filled life that even brought me to this great country. It all started by me becoming aware of God’s love for me and then responding to God with love too, saying my “yes” to Him and then adventure begins. From our Regional Seminary in Leyte, to the National Seminary in Manila, then to accompanying my Bishop to Rome and other parts of Europe, then after being priest for ten years in the Philippines, God brought me here to the Diocese of Phoenix in 2008.

As Parochial Vicar for about five years and then a Pastor here in Our Lady of Joy for thirteen years, I want to thank God and Our Lady for this journey, I want to thank all the Priests and Bishops who helped me. I want to thank the People of God in this Diocese especially the Parishioners and Staff of Our Lady of Joy.

May our Lady of Joy continue intercede for us and bless our Diocese with more holy priests and deacons, consecrated men and women, who serve the Church with fire.

Yours in Christ through Mary Immaculate.
