21st Sunday in Ordinary Time
by Fr. Jess Ty | 08/24/2025 | Weekly ReflectionDear Family of God,
This month of August we have celebrated both the Assumption and the Coronation of Mary, as Queen of Heaven and Earth. If Jesus need a mother and a father, we all need a mother and Father too. Mary was given to us by Jesus himself to help us in our journey to holiness, to help us realized that Jesus thirsts for our love too.
The Blessed Virgin Mary has this God-given the task of helping us to hear this desire of Jesus and forming us into another Christ. In order to be formed we need a Formator to train us. We need Mary, the perfect disciple of Jesus. The disciples must be disciplined, “for whom the Lord loves, he disciplines.”
Our second reading this weekend says: “At the time, all discipline seems a cause not for joy but for pain, yet later it brings the peaceful fruit of holiness to those who are trained by it.” The way of the cross is the purifying fire of God’s love, transforming us into his image so that we can be one with him. Only those who are one will with Him may pass through the narrow gate.
The Lord counsels and encourages us today, as a Father speaking to his children: “So strengthen your drooping hands and your weak knees. Make straight paths for your feet, that what is lame may not be disjointed but healed.”
May Our Lady of Joy intercedes for us all.
Yours in Christ through Mary Immaculate.
