The Teen Program is a ministry offered to our 9th-12th grade students who are in Catholic School or in Public School. Know that as a parent/guardian, our youth ministry program at Our Lady of Joy will be a dynamic program designed to meet the educational, spiritual and social needs of your teenager. We will foster an environment where the youth understand their role as part of the parish community. If your teenager is new to the program or your family is new to the parish of Our Lady of Joy, you’ll soon see how the program provides an opportunity for your teenager to grow in faith by developing a meaningful relationship with Jesus through Liturgy, Tuesday Teen Nights, service and social activities as well as building healthy relationships with peers and those involved in Tuesday Night Teens.
So very much is changing and going on in the lives of our young people. We wish to create an environment here at Our Lady of Joy to assist you as parents/guardians in the formation of your child so as to grow in faith and knowledge of our Lord. Our hope is that they encounter the Risen Lord and that our young people can anchor their lives at this wonderful parish. At Our Lady of Joy, we will do our level best to give our High School youth the tools that they need to construct a foundation for life: JESUS, THE WORD OF GOD, THE EUCHARIST AND THE CHURCH!
Goals of the Tuesday Night Teen Program at Our Lady of Joy are:
- To foster a transforming Catholic experience and knowledge of Jesus through the Liturgy, to become witnesses to the transforming Word of God and the Eucharist in a profound way.
- To create a positive experience of the Catholic Church for our High School Youth.
- To assist the High School youth in gaining an understanding and appreciation of what the Catholic Church holds and teaches.
- To incorporate into the spiritual life of adolescents, the Catholic Church’s vision of identity, service, social justice and mission in relation to Jesus the Lord.
- To develop a strong Catholic identity in high school through the Tuesday Night Teen ministry to further develop a vital and visual presence within the parish community.
Tuesday Night Teens will meet on Tuesdays of course, from 6:30-7:45pm (September-May). Be ready to learn the greatness of our Faith and have a great time.
We always need more Adult Facilitators and Volunteers for the program who have a background in appropriate boundaries and ministry within a parish. Please pray about serving in this ministry as a parent or adult volunteer and see Ms. Jill Pavlovsky for an interview. For more information about becoming an Adult Facilitator/Adult Volunteer for the Tuesday Night Teen program please call or email the parish office.
We have an exciting year ahead of us. Let us continue to pray for one another and seek to build the Kingdom of God here at Our Lady of Joy Catholic Church!
