RCIA

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

The RCIA is the process for unbaptized adult individuals seeking to become Catholic and complete the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist). The process supports those interested in learning about the Catholic faith through study and discussion of Catholic doctrine and the Bible. These meetings are part of an ongoing conversion experience that seeks to lead to a deeper understanding and embrace of the Catholic Faith. Please feel free to inquire about the program at any time during the year. Our formal process begins in September with Inquiry (the precatechumenate) and, for those who desire baptism, leads to reception of the Sacraments at the Easter Vigil Liturgy following a significant period of catechetical instruction (the catechumenate).

Those who were baptized in another Christian faith, and now seek full communion with the Catholic Church, join the unbaptized for instruction in the RCIA process. They are received into full communion with the Church through the sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist at a liturgy during the Easter season.

The RCIA meets on Tuesday evenings in the Teen Center from 7-8:45pm. We officially begin the process of Inquiry on Tuesday, September 4th, 2012. This is a time of introduction to the Catholic Faith.

There will be ample opportunity to ask questions and discuss Catholicism in a comfortable, relaxed environment.

Any person who has completed the Sacraments of Initiation of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist, and is a fully practicing Catholic in good standing, may inquire about the responsibilities of being a sponsor for a candidate.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC)

Children 7 and above in need of baptism, or who were baptized in another Christian faith, participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Children.  The RCIC meets on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30-5:45pm in the parish Hall beginning on September 12th, 2012.

To set up a meeting to inquire about entering the RCIA or RCIC process, please contact the faith formation department.
