School Mission Statement
To provide quality Catholic education in a faith-filled environment, serving the community as one family in the body of Christ. We are fostering active Christians, life long learners, effective communicators, responsible citizens, and self-aware individuals.
Recognizing that the central purpose of Our Lady of Joy Parish is to become ever more deeply a Eucharistic Community, the preschool will assist young children, their families, and the entire parish community in exploring the meaning of the Eucharist, and to serve others with the love of Christ.
In pursuit of this mission, the preschool will:
- Partner with parents in the education and development of their children.
- Help children express their relationship with God in developmentally appropriate ways.
- Reinforce Catholic Christian values taught at home.
- Create an environment of hospitality where faith and its values are molded.
Our Lady of Joy Roman Catholic School is a Community Which Believes in:
- Every child’s unique talents and abilities
- Always following our Lord, Jesus Christ
- Growing spiritually, academically, and socially
- Learning as a life-long process
- Engaging and welcoming environment
- Service to One Another
What a joy it is to bring our 4 year old to preschool! She loves school and can't wait to go each morning and then come home each day and share what her class has done. She has learned by a great example, her brother who also attended Our Lady of Joy Preschool. He is in 2nd grade at Annunciation and he also loves his school. The interaction on a daily basis for us as parents and for our children is a pleasure! Our school community is one that we prayed for. The educational foundation with our schools is exactly what we were looking for!
We are Blessed!!
The Jolesch Family
Being new to the Phoenix area and starting our three year old son in preschool for the first time, left my husband and I feeling a bit overwhelmed. We hoped that we could send our son to a catholic school, but unfortunately there was not a catholic preschool near our home. We visited a number of preschools but felt that they could not offer a strong academic education, as well as a strong catholic foundation. We decided that it would be worth traveling a bit further in order to have our son experience a school that mirrored the values that we teach at home.
Our family visited Our Lady Joy and quickly knew we wanted to be a part of this community. The teachers and staff made us feel included from the beginning, even encouraging us to be involved in the classroom. My husband and I continue to feel such a sense of comfort knowing that Jonathan is surrounded by faculty and staff that are parents themselves, who have faith and values similar to ours. We have seen our son Jonathan grow not only in his learning, but also in his spirituality.
Our Lady of Joy preschool has exceeded our expectations and we feel extremely blessed to be part of their family!
This year, our third grade class at Annunciation scored in the 99th percentile on a national standardized test; our second grade scored in the 94th percentile. Over a third of these students attended at Our Lady of Joy Catholic School.
At Annunciation I am eager to enroll students who have graduated from the OLJ program, since I know the Director, Mrs. Snook shares my philosophy about what children need to ensure a lifetime of success. The OLJ program upholds high academic standards, instills a true love of learning and develops a strong foundation in the faith.
Their small class sizes and top notch accredited teachers mean each child gets the attention they need. OLJ graduates come to us reading above grade level and demonstrating the foundation necessary to make good moral decisions. The OLJ graduates at Annunciation also exhibit a strong sense of compassion and social awareness, a result of the many stewardship opportunities provided during their early years at OLJ.
