Dear Parish Family:
Welcome to the parish website for Our Lady of Joy Roman Catholic Church in Carefree, AZ. As Parochial Administrator, I invite you to visit this beautiful place and meet your fellow parishioners in the day-to-day worship of God and at parish events, as well as at our social gatherings. New parish families are welcomed each quarter at a “Welcome Sunday” event after a Sunday morning mass. If you have been away from the Church, come see a priest at the parish! Like St. John the Baptist, the priest only seeks to testify to the Light (Jn 1:29), to point out the Messiah, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.
The priests and professional staff here at Our Lady of Joy hope to serve you to best of our ability as well as assist those who seek the Lord to find real solutions and valid answers. As Catholic Christians, it is together that we are especially called to play a real part in the Divine Mission of Jesus Christ; to build the Kingdom of God and reveal the goodness of the Father who is Thrice Holy, yet radically and personally present to us here in this particular location of Arizona.
Our Lady of Joy is located in beautiful Carefree, Arizona. We’re 40 miles north of downtown Phoenix, in the “desert foothills” area. It’s important to note that our mailing address is different from our physical address. We have 1787 families that are registered here at Our Lady of Joy. We’re always growing and striving to become the people that God calls us to be: “One Body, One Spirit, One Baptism, One Faith.” (Ephesians 4:5)
As Catholics we draw our strength and inspiration from the Holy Eucharist, our source and summit. Pope John Paul II wrote in his Encyclical, Ecclesia de Eucharistia, “Our plan [as Christians] is found in the Gospel and in the living Tradition. Ultimately, it has as its center, Christ himself, who is to be known, loved and imitated, so that in him we may live the life of the Trinity, and with him transform history until its fulfillment in the heavenly Jerusalem.” The renewal of Christian living passes through the Eucharist. I hope that you’ll join us in this mission and the life of the Church, the Bride of Christ.
In Christ,
Fr. Patrick Farley
