Our Mission . . . To provide a quality Catholic education in a faith-filled environment, serving the community as one family in the Body of Christ.
Our Vision . . . Students at Our Lady of Joy Catholic School are Active Christians, Life-Long Learners, Effective Communicators, Responsible Citizens, and Self-Aware Individuals.
Our Approach . . . Kindergarten at Our Lady of Joy Catholic School is a faith-based, hands-on, academic program. By providing various learning centers and utilizing several teaching strategies each student has the opportunity to learn in the modality that is most comfortable. The emphasis in each classroom is on children being able to use their hands and being involved and engaged in the goings-on.
Our Curriculum . . . Curriculum design is the result of planning and study by the faculty and administration. The Diocesan School Office provides guidelines that incorporate the requirements as set by the Arizona Department of Public Instruction. We are truly blessed to have access to some of the best elementary educational tools! We use Our Heavenly Father and Promise: A Liturgical Based Newsletter as our key religious education curriculum. Our language arts curriculum incorporates both the MacMillan/McGraw-Hill Treasures reading program and Handwriting Without Tears. We use the Houghton-Mifflin Math program, MacMillan/McGraw-Hill Friends and Neighbors social studies program, and Harcourt, Inc. Science program. In addition, the students utilize Scholastic Weekly Reader student newspapers and National Geographic Young Explorer newsmagazines. Students also receive Spanish, Music, and PE each week.
