Celebrate the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe with Mass, Mariachi Music and a Mexican-style Breakfast!
Each December 12, the Mexican Catholic Church celebrates the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. This celebration commemorates the apparition of Mary to the Mexican peasant Juan Diego in 1531.
This feast day is an important holiday in Mexico. It has also become an important day for Mexican Americans to celebrate their religious and cultural identity. Our Lady of Guadalupe is the Patroness of the Diocese of Phoenix and the Americas.
In preparation for the feast day, many individuals in the community erect altars in their home. The altars often include a painting of Our Lady of Guadalupe that is surrounded by candles and flowers
At Our Lady of Joy, we will honor this beautiful tradition with a special Mass featuring a Mariachi band followed by a celebration in the Courtyard with dancers, Sweet Mexican Bread and Mexican-style Hot Chocolate.
Please join us in this beautiful celebration on Thu, Dec 12 and offer thanks to Our Lady of Guadalupe for all the blessings she has obtained for us from her son.
